When we wake up, the content we see within our newsfeeds on social media has changed considerably from the day before. We are now presented with information in lots of different formats and styles. I personally believe that to remain current and popular we have to endorse those changes. Print is no different! Not only are we faced with the changes in social media, but we are also faced with the ever-changing trends in print.
Being a small to medium business, we have to be ahead of the curve and be able to offer new, innovative and exciting products to suit our clients’ requirements. We are always looking for new ways to help our clients stand out from the crowd.
Did you know that 80% of social media traffic is video and imagery? Makes you think about what you may need to change. Print media has certainly become more image-based over recent years and new innovative concepts for video cards and personalised mailers are helping companies to really stand out in a crowded marketplace.
On our social media platforms, we are finding that the engagement we get from images of work leaving the factory is far higher than those of generic posts and when we are able to personalise the posts to a particular company, again the engagement is higher – the same is true for print media. Personalising mailshots can really make a difference! Everyone likes to see their name in print!
We ask all our clients within Our Six-Step Process if they would be happy for us to share the work that we have printed for them on completion of the job. Those that agree are happy for work to be shared online and in our newsletters and printed materials – can you do this in your business?
Each social media platform that we use gets different engagement rates to the content that we share and as a business, I think it is massively important to watch these statistics closely to ensure that the time that you spend on your content is not wasted. Whilst print media is a little harder to track, the feedback you get online is invaluable in shaping print media.
When we work with a client, we are always asking:
1. Who are they trying to target with this material
2. Is it a sales piece? Then a “call to action” must be included to get a potential customer to do something.
3. Is it an awareness piece? Talking about the business but not directly selling is a good way to make your company look more approachable.
4. Does the imagery used make the right impression? Actions speak louder than words and sometimes a simple image or video is all it takes to create engagement without a wordy description.
